WMS: EdVenture Team: Conferences are approaching!

Dear WMS Wildcat Families,

We wanted to let you know that conferences are fast approaching. We have sent home a letter and a scheduling form with your child today. Please complete these form and return it with your child ASAP to the teacher listed at the top right of your schedule form.

Just in case, I have attached PDF copies of the letter and the form with this email. If you need to print one of these out, please label the form to come back to your child's AFTERNOON TEACHER FOR A NORMAL SCHEDULE. Your child will know who that is.

We make every attempt to accommodate scheduling needs, but having your form back first makes it easier to schedule you a time that works best for your schedule.

Sincerely,

The WMS EdVenture Team

EdVenture Team Representative Results

We had amazing speeches this morning at our all-team meeting. It was clear that we had four very qualified and interested students. Any one of them would be an excellent representatives for you, their teammates. But, of course, we can have only two. And this year the EdVenture Team has selected, as their team representatives to the ASB:

Lucy and
Ashley

Please congratulate them. They have promised to represent you, your ideas, and your interests to the Associated Student Body. So don't be left out! Be sure you give them your thoughts and ideas!

Peace.

Next week: MAP Testing and "The Flip"

Next week our team will begin MAP testing in the computer labs. The MAP test is a computer adaptive test that helps us gauge the performance level of students in our math classes. Students will take this test in October and again in the spring time (most likely in May).

Also next week we will have our first week of a flipped schedule in which our morning and afternoon blocks are switched. This helps kids shake up their schedules and get a chance to do different subjects in the morning. So here's what next week and a little of the week thereafter will look like:

Monday 10/10
Mr. Lucy's and Mr. MacNevin's morning groups will be MAP testing. The time block all the way until lunch is reserved for this purpose just in case there are students who want that much time.

Tuesday 10/11
FLIPPED SCHEDULE! Our afternoon groups become our morning groups!
Mr. Lucy's and Mr. MacNevin's flipped morning groups will be MAP testing. The time block all the way until lunch is reserved for this purpose just in case there are students who want that much time.

Wednesday 10/12

Thursday 10/13
FLIPPED

Friday 10/14

Monday 10/17
FLIPPED
Mr. Knckrehm's and Ms. Sherwood's flipped morning group will be MAP testing. The time block all the way until lunch is reserved for this purpose just in case there are students who want that much time.

What an AMAZING day!

We had such a GREAT first day today with our new Whatcom Wildcats! Welcome back to school and welcome to Whatcom Middle School!

Parents, your children brought a letter home to you today that has important information about our team, their classes, and our expectations. Please read this letter with your child and ask if either of you have any questions. There is a place for you to sign and a part that your child will bring back to us tomorrow.

We are looking forward to a great year and are so excited to be here with your children.

Looking forward to a GREAT year!

Your EdVenture team is looking forward to a wonderful year full of fun and learning! You can visit this blog as often as you like for updated information for the whole team. Or you can click on your teacher's blog to the right to see things that matter to your class!

Parents! You can subscribe to these blog updates! Just add your email address in the field to the right side of the screen and click submit! The blog will be culled each evening by a script and new posts will be sent to your mailbox! The blog is not scanned for updates all day long, just at some point near evening. So don't expect things in your mailbox as they happen.
